My second favourite meal of the day, I call this meal my “guilt-free” meal. When it comes to breakfast I don’t hold back. I use to think that skipping breakfast will make me lose weight faster, but I quickly found out that I was quite wrong.
Moms out there – DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST!!!!
Overnight nutty galore rolled oats
- Put 1 cup rolled oats in a bowl, cup or whatever you prefer to have your
breakfast in and soak it in water overnight (11/3 – 11/2 cups water for 1 cup
oats) and add the following to taste the next morning: - Cinnamon, Himalayan Crystal Rock salt, Cocoa, Fructose/ honey, peanut butter, Sunflower seeds, Almond flakes, nuts of choice.
- Supplement add on: 1 tsp calcium and magnesium powder (makes it creamier)
You can add any of your favourite ingredients, from fruit to chocolate chips, the choices are endless. In winter, I like my oats warm so I will add hot non-dairy milk/water and on weekends I will heat it and let it thicken on the stove. Not only do you get a fully balanced breakfast but it will taste like dessert. I can go for hours after this meal without feeling starved and grappling with the closest snack bar or bag of popcorn.
Buy any pack of low sugar Granola. I buy the basic mix from Woolworths.
Add the following to your basic mix – Coconut shredding, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds, nuts, raisins and any of your favourite choices.
For a Breakfast bowl to die for add all the ingredient below together and munch away.
- 2/3 cups of your Granola mix
- Milk of your choice – I use oats or soy milk
- 1 banana or any fruit you prefer
- Chocolate chips
I have to confess… of all the times I had this for breakfast I never got myself to take pictures, because before I know it, the glass is empty… very sinful, I know.
Here goes:
- 2 Frozen ripe Bananas
- 1 handful spinach
- ½ cup frozen blueberries
- 1 ½ cup milk of choice – I use soymilk or almond milk
- 2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
- 1 tbsp Flaxseed/Powder
- 2 tbsp Cocoa powder
Add all the above ingredients into blender, cover with lid (please take note that this step is very important to remember for the half asleep mom’s in the morning…there is nothing to upset your day more than having a thin great tasting layer of breakfast smoothie all over your cupboards, floor and your favourite PJs) and mix away. Mix until your preferred consistency.
Hint: If you would like it sweeter, you can add fructose or honey (It’s BREAKFAST, don’t be afraid to make it good).
