Here's a good fact: We need the lactase enzyme to digest lactose, but between the ages of 18 months and four years we lose 90-95 percent of that enzyme. So, basically, we’re all pretty much lactose intolerant.

This week was hectic to say the least and the only thing I can think about now is getting to bed. Okay, so it’s after 8 and saying that Cape Town is freezing tonight is a slight understatement. I am in NO mood to do a post but I told myself that a creamy cup of hot chocolate and a steaming bath is in order if I get this done. (Challenge Accepted – as my Sister’s little boys would say) My second favourite meal of the day, I call this meal my “guilt-free” meal. When it comes to breakfast I don’t hold back. I use to think that skipping breakfast will make me lose weight faster, but I quickly found out that I was quite wrong. Moms out there – DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST!!!! When people hear that you are raising a Vegan baby (except for the all natural - mommy's breast milk of course) the first thing EVERYONE seems to ask is what milk alternatives I gave to Gabi when she started weaning off breast milk after the first year. The answer to that question is OATS MILK. There are so many different milk alternatives available these days, like nut milk, soy milk and even rice milk, but I ended up choosing Oats milk. I can honestly say that this recipe is tried and tested as I make about 2 liters of oats milk a day ( i must confess that I do knock down a glass or 2 myself time to time.) So many Mommies have asked me for my oats milk recipe so I should think it's about time I post it. Oats milk is tasty, affordable and sooooo easy to make, like I will be showing you below. |
